The Right Location
Another thing that all good African safari lodges should get right is their location, because one's setting cannot always justify having to drive four or five hours to get there, no matter how special it is. For Gauteng residents wishing to get away for a weekend, a lodge should ideally not be situated more than about two hours away from the major cities. Our lodge is 200 km from Johannesburg and 150 km from both Pretoria and Polokwane, so our central location makes it a drive of less than two hours – far enough to get away from it all yet close enough to get there before sundown. What is more, we are in a malaria-free area.

It goes without saying that African safari lodges worth their salt should offer many activities for guests to indulge in during their stay. Many of these activities or amenities should be standard and included in your rate, like:
